The Caulfield Racecourse can be found just eight kilometres from the centre of Melbourne and is one of the city’s most famous racing tracks. Known as “the Heath’, Caulfield is a triangular course with three straights and a width of 30 metres.
Owned by the Melbourne Racing Club, the venue was first built in 1859 although proper racing did not take place until 1876. In 1995 the track was closed for a year for reconstruction, widening the course and adding on 43 metres to the circumference.
