The 2010 Group 1 Caulfield Guineas will run at 4:00PM on Saturday October 9 as the feature race of the day.

This year’s 1600 metre Caulfield Guineas has drawn a capacity field of the best three year old runners in Australia, all running under set weight conditions with penalties.

Top of the 2010 Caulfield Guineas odds at SportsBet is Ilovethiscity at $3.80 to win and starting from barrier 11. The winner of the Group 3 Spring Stakes and third placegetter in the Group 1 Golden Rose, Ilovethiscity will start from barrier 11. While Ilovethiscity certainly looks to be in with a chance, his position as favourite seems odd when you consider…

…Toorak Toff is in the race in barrier 8! Toorak Toff may have placed second behind Anacheeva in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude, but he is still the winner of the Group 1 Golden Rose. While he has been less consistent at the 1600 metre mark, Toorak Toff is a champion in the making and should get back to winning ways in this race.

Toorak Toff is in the SportsBet odds at $4.60 to win, but from 10AM to 12PM on Friday October 8 at IASbet you will be able to get odds of $6.00 to win, up to a $100 bet.

Many are expecting the mare to extend her win streak to an eighth victory, but a lot will go against her this time. She will carry 58kg and start from barrier 10, two factors that may hold her back too much to take yet another race.

Next in the Toorak Handicap odds is Drumbeats at $6.50 to win, carrying 56kg and starting in barrier 7. Drumbeats very recently won the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap, and had a third place finish in the Listed Sebring Sprint, which was won by More Joyous. However, the 5 year old horse has yet to win beyond the 1500 metre mark, which does not bode well for his Toorak Handicap chances.

For those who are can handle a bit more risk, Luen Yat Forever could be worth your while. Priced at $41.00, Luen Yat Forever has a barrier 2 start with 55.5kg and a strong overseas record. He could be good for a place bet at the very least, and has place odds of $8.50.

If you would like to bet on the 2010 Toorak Handicap, then be sure to sign up for a SportsBet account today!

The 2010 Group 1 Yalumba Stakes will run at 2:40PM on Saturday October 9 as the first Group 1 race of Caulfield Guineas Day.

In this 2000 metre run at Caulfield Racecourse, So You Think is the dominant favourite at odds of $1.50 to win over at SportsBet. In fact, the imposing figure of So You Think may just be what has kept the field so shorthanded at only 6 runners.

So You Think is the winner of the Group 2 Memsie Stakes and the Group 1 Underwood Stakes, and is second favourite in the Melbourne Cup odds behind Shocking. In the Yalumba Stakes, he will carry the lightest weight at 58kg and start from barrier 3. In terms of staying power, he proved he can win at this distance in the Cox Plate last year.

If you are only thinking of placing a win bet in the Yalumba Stakes, there really is no choice other than So You Think. The more adventurous bettors may wish to consider a Yalumba Stakes box trifecta of First Four, especially considering how few runners there are to consider.

The 2010 Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes will be running this weekend during Caulfield Guineas Day.

Starting at 1:15PM, the event is a 2400 metre run that has drawn a field of 10. To be ready for the odds as soon as they come out, sign up for a SportsBet account now.

Precedence is looking very good with his barrier 1 draw and weight of 56.5kg. The Bart Cummings-trained gelding recently won the Group 3 JRA Cup (2040m), in a fairly dominant performance and is well-placed to start a win streak with a Herbert Powers Stakes victory.

Moudre seems the most likely to give Precedence some good opposition, though he will be at a bit of a disadvantage in barrier 9. He will only carry 55.5kg and this will become a very interesting run if it happens in the wet, as both Precedence and Moudre have put in good performances in bad conditions.

The 2010 Group 2 Schillaci Stakes will run this Saturday October 9 on the Caulfield Guineas Day race card.

Starting at 2:00PM, the Schillaci Stakes will be the last race before the Group 1 events begin. It is a 1000 metre sprint for three year olds and up at Weight-For-Age conditions. If you want to be ready to bet when the odds come out, sign up for a SportsBet account now.

The race is looking to be quite competitive, with many quality runners in the 9 horse field. Star Witness is looking like the top contender, a plucky 3 year old colt who finished third in the Vain Stakes less than a length behind Soul in second and Toorak Toff in first. He will be coming out of barrier 1 and carry just 53kg, giving him tremendous advantages over most of the field.

Black Caviar could be the spoiler for the three year old’s rise, however, as the 4 year old mare returns from a long break after dominantly winning the Group 2 Australian Stakes in January. She is coming back from an injury, but a recent barrier trial suggests she has not lost her speed.

To bet on what promises to be an exciting 2010 Schillaci Stakes, go ahead and join SportsBet today.

The 2010 Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes will run on Saturday October 7 as part of Caulfield Guineas Day.

The race will start at 4:40PM following the Caulfield Guineas, and it is a sprint for 3-year-old fillies over 1200 metres at set weights with penalties. The first odds are set to come out at SportsBet soon, so be sure to sign up for an account now to get your bets in early.

A likely contender in the race will be Military Rose. She will be carrying one of the heaviest weights at 56.5kg and is coming out of barrier 7 in a 14 horse field. Her recent record isn’t a winning one, but a close finish third finish in the Champagne Stakes with less than a length behind second place Jesse’s Girl and third place Lone Rock hints at a possible return to form for Military Rose.

Lone Rock looks quite likely to be the favourite coming into the 2010 Thoroughbred Club Stakes, having won the Champagne Stakes over several other contenders in this race and coming out of barrier 3. She will also be carrying 56.5kg like Military Rose, however, which could hold her back a bit.

Jesse’s Girl is looking well placed to win this one, starting from barrier 5 and carrying only 54kg. She has yet to win a Group level race, though, and seems to be making a habit of finishing a close second.

If you want to be ready to take advantage of the Thoroughbred Club Stakes odds as soon as they come out, then sign up for an account at SportsBet today!
