The 2010 Group 2 Schillaci Stakes will run this Saturday October 9 on the Caulfield Guineas Day race card.

The race is looking to be quite competitive, with many quality runners in the 9 horse field. Star Witness is looking like the top contender, a plucky 3 year old colt who finished third in the Vain Stakes less than a length behind Soul in second and Toorak Toff in first. He will be coming out of barrier 1 and carry just 53kg, giving him tremendous advantages over most of the field.
Black Caviar could be the spoiler for the three year old’s rise, however, as the 4 year old mare returns from a long break after dominantly winning the Group 2 Australian Stakes in January. She is coming back from an injury, but a recent barrier trial suggests she has not lost her speed.
